BACK
TO PUNK FLYERS
SEARCH
& DESTROY MAGAZINE was the premiere punk rock journal
from San Francisco in 1977, and this flyer by
an anonymous punk artist announced
a benefit for the magazine featuring UXA (United
Experiments of America), and the DILS. The flyer
shows a Nazi with a sniping rifle looking for members of
punk bands to assassinate. The
DILS represented the most radical political vision in the
US punk scene, penning songs like CLASS WAR, I
HATE THE RICH, and RED ROCKERS RULE.
Bands
from Los Angeles would play in San Francisco, and visa versa,
with the two cities eventually becoming citadels of punk
on the West Coast. The
DILS went on to open for the first Los Angeles appearance
of the CLASH in 1979. UXA moved to LA were they still
perform today.
