You could call the Zeros the Chicano Ramones because of their great pop hooks. They opened for the Germ's first 77 concert and opened for the Clash in SF, 79.

BACK TO PUNK FLYERS

This flyer announced a concert that marked an important turning point in the history of punk in Los Angeles. The 1979 concert held at Baces Hall was a benefit thrown for political prisoners in Texas... it was the first (but not last), explicitly political punk benefit concert held in Los Angeles.

The bands that played, Plugz, Middle Class, and Zeros, were all intuitively political... and the combination of angry punk music and radical politics made this event stand out from previous concerts. Many more political punk affairs were to follow in the wake of this ground breaking concert.
