Artist's statement:

"In 1992 I created this drawing of an Aztec warrior to celebrate the original inhabitants of the western hemisphere and their resistance to those who would colonize them.

I self-published my drawing as a black & white poster carrying the words, 500 YEARS OF RESISTANCE in English & Spanish. The poster was distributed widely throughout California and parts of Mexico. It was used extensively in protests during the 500th anniversary of Columbus "discovering the new world."
