The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is holding its first Youth Activism Art Competition. Young Arab-Americans are being asked to artistically express on a personal level what it means to be an Arab-American. The contest, meant to encourage creative expression in the future generation, is divided into two categories: Children ages10-13 years, and submitters 14-18 years old. Participants are being asked to create works on paper. Submitted artworks can be a snapshot of daily life as an Arab American, or something expressing feelings about heritage or background. Entries can range from cartoons and comic strips, to collages, photos and paintings. All submissions must have dimensions no larger than 13 inches by13 inches. All submitted art will be displayed at the ADC 25th Year Silver Anniversary Convention to be held in Washington DC on May 27-29, 2005. The winners of each category will receive a $100 check. Additionally, ADC will feature an article/interview about the winners on the ADC website and/or in the ADC Times. The deadline to submit art is May 10, 2005. Mail entries to: Siwar Bandar.
