Saatchi Gallery: "Your Gallery"

I’ve unleashed a number of critiques aimed at British art mogul Charles Saatchi and his stable of postmodern art stars, but I have to give him credit for launching a terrific new project. The Saatchi Gallery has amazingly opened its doors to artists around the world by allowing them to post their artworks directly to the Saatchi Gallery website. So far more than 500 artists have posted their works in the "Your Gallery" section of the site, yours truly being one of them. By creating this free space for artists, Saatchi offers a way for artists and collectors to save money by cutting out the dealer - "The viability and relevance of the project might also impact on the way much business is conducted within the art world in the future," said Saatchi in a press release.

While I applaud Saatchi for his bold move, it makes me wonder if other major international museums and galleries will follow suit with their own plans to widen public access to living artists. I encourage all working artists to upload their biographies, exhibit histories, and artworks to the "Your Gallery" section of the Saatchi Gallery.
