Artist's statement:

"I created this drawing in 1991 during the first Gulf War and the U.S. bombing of Iraq. The title is a reference to then President George Bush Sr. and his claim of being committed to education. I had seen news photos of US troops signing bombs to be dropped on Iraq, and observed that they were misspelling their messages. I based my drawing on a composite of such news photos.

My drawing was printed as a large flyer that bore the work's title as its legend. 5,000 of these flyers were distributed on the streets of Los Angeles during the first Gulf War.
